COMMISSION MINUTES

SPECIAL CALLED MEETING

PRESENT:                             

G. Ben Turnipseed, Chairman

Steve Copeland, Vice-Chairman

Cornell L. Harvey, Commissioner

Wayne Neal, Commissioner

Donald Elliott, Commissioner

Tripp Stephens, Commissioner

Bob Duncan, Commissioner 

ALSO PRESENT:                 

Charlie Dorminy, Legal Counsel HBS

Andrew Burroughs, Interim Executive Director

Jay Sellers, Director of Administration

Janice Meridith, Exec. Commission Admin.

MEDIA PRESENT:               

Taylor Cooper, The Brunswick News

Pamela Permar Shierling, The Islander                                                                                   

Chairman Turnipseed called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

Commissioner Neal provided the invocation and Commissioner Elliott led the Pledge of Allegiance. 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Chairman Turnipseed requested a motion to enter into Executive Session to discuss personnel with a vote to be taken after.

Commissioner Duncan made a motion seconded by Commissioner Harvey to enter into Executive Session to discuss personnel with a vote to be taken after.  Motion carried 5-0-2.  (Commissioner Elliott and Commissioner Neal abstained from the vote.)

Return to Regular Session.

Commissioner Stephens made a motion seconded by Commissioner Duncan to return to Regular Session.  Motion carried 7-0-0.

Commissioner Duncan made a motion seconded by Commissioner Stephens to move that the JWSC accept the resignation of Mr. Junkin as Executive Director and authorize the Chairman to execute the Resignation, Consulting, and Severance Agreement with Mr. Junkin.  I also move that the JWSC name Deputy Executive Director, Andrew Burroughs, as Interim Executive Director.  Motion carried 7-0-0.

Chairman Turnipseed adjourned the open meeting at 9:30 a.m.
