Details Regarding the Glynn Haven Water Outage on November 17, 2015

On the morning of Tuesday, November 17, 2015, the Joint Water & Sewer Commission will be installing a valve for a fire hydrant located on the corner of Atlantic Ave and Sixth Ave in the Glynn Haven neighborhood on St. Simons Island. At the present time, there is an underground leak at the water main, with standing water in the shoulder of the road presenting potential problems in the future.

In the process of lining up this repair, our staff discovered that the water main that feeds this hydrant cannot be isolated without disconnecting the majority of residential water service in Glynn Haven. The project will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow and we will be working as quickly as possible to restore service to the neighborhood.
