Please Help Prevent Sewer Backups

The Brunswick-Glynn County Joint Water & Sewer Commission maintains the public sewer system in Glynn County.  We make every possible effort to prevent sewer backups and overflows in the system but some of that effort is up to you as well.  Please help fight sewer backups by following a few simple steps:

1. Pour cooled fats, oils and grease into a covered, disposable container and throw it into your garbage.  Never pour fats, oils or grease down sink drains or toilets.
2. Soak up remaining oils and grease with an absorbent material such as paper towels and throw into your garbage.
3. Before you wash dishes, scrape food scraps, fats, oils and grease into your garbage or compost.  Do not use the garbage disposal.
4. Use sink strainers to catch any remaining food waste while washing dishes, and dispose of the waste in the trash.
